Index increases are essential for service providers to maintain profitability and continue delivering high-quality services. These adjustments help offset rising costs, such as:
- Inflation: The decreasing purchasing power of money necessitates price adjustments to maintain profit margins.
- Wage Increases: As employee wages rise, service providers must adjust prices to cover these increased labor costs.
- Increased Operational Costs: Rising costs for rent, utilities, and other overhead expenses require price adjustments to sustain business operations.
Good things to know before index increasing:
- We always recommend you to export all subscriptions before starting an index increase.
- Order rows with a discount will keep the same discount in percentage, meaning that the total discount in value will increase due to the index raise.
- The index increase will be shown on the subscription under the "History" tab.
- The increase runs on the night on the chosen date.
- The summary will always show the ARR/MRR in your master currency.
- An index increase will result in a total ARR/MRR with decimals, depending on what percentage you are increasing with.
Create your index increase:
Enter "Subscription" and the subscription sub setting "Subscription indexing":
A overview of planned and completed indexes will be shown, where you can show completed by pressing on the toggle "Show completed index increases":
To create a new and up coming index increase, press "+New index increase.
The first setting page for the index increase will appear, where you:
-
- Give it a relevant name
- Choose to activate it via the toggle after being finished with the settings
- The actual index increase per orderrow on the whole subscription in percentage. E.g 5,75%
- Choose when the index should be applied. Specific day lets you choose a specific day that your chosen subscriptions will be indexed, an index increase that will run around midnight on the chosen date.
- Choose the user that should be attributed with the index increase. Is it the account manager of the company or a specific user?
- Select if you want to create a prorated order. This can be done for subscriptions that start after your chosen day. It will create an order with the difference in value between the index increase and the upcoming order. If you choose not to create a prorated order, none will be created.
- Filter and choose the subscriptions that are included in the index raise. All the chosen subscriptions in the list will be indexed. You can manually exclude subscriptions in the list.
- An overview will be shown to summarize what subscription will be increased, with the ARR after the increase and also the value in your master currency. If you find any subscriptions that were are not supposed to be indexed then you have the exclude option here as well.
- "Save & run index increase" to activate the increase. It will be run on your chosen date by midnight.
Edit your index increase:
The saved index will be visible under your "Subscription indexing", where you see an overview of the settings you have chosen. If you want to change anything in this increase, enter it by clicking on the row. If the status is "Active" you will be able to change it, but once it has run during midnight, you will not be able to change.
If a "specific day" is chosen, the index settings will be locked. To unlock and make changes, press "Unlock filters".
Check your finished index increase:
A finished index increase will be shown and present a summary of the index increase. To show this, enter the index increase setting > toggle "Show completed index increases":
