Anonymizing a contact means that you can no longer identify this contact. You are simply removing all connections between the contact and the information. |
How to anonymize a contact
The main anonymization feature
Psst! When using the main anonymization feature doesn't show inactive users in the list of results. Inactive users can only be anonymized from the contact list or advanced search.
Using the contact list or advanced search
Using this approach, filter the lists to narrow down the results, select one or multiple contacts with the left checkboxes of the rows. Click "Manage selected" and click "Anonymize".
Important! Once a contact is anonymized this can't be reverted. The contact and the related information you selected for anonymization is gone for good. Therefor, only Administrators have the permission to anonymize.
What's being anonymized?
Some information related to the contact is always going to be anonymized:
- Contact name
- Contact title
- Phone numbers
- Email address
- Notes
- Custom fields for the contact.
On top of these mandatory fields, you can select which fields to anonymize your self. For example, fields related to activities, appointments, opportunities, orders, documents, e-signs, form submits, emails and custom objects.
The difference between anonymizing and deleting a contact
By anonymizing you are removing the connection between the information and the contact. The information still left in Upsales can't be traced to the individual. A good use for this is reporting. With the information still intact you can still view correct statistics
