Planning to import data? Import Settings is where you can add extra information to all companies and contacts.
You can also tell Upsales how to handle multiple matches, and where to send a status email when your import has finished processing.
You'll see plenty of settings for your import:
When you want to:
-
Add all of the contacts in the imported data to a campaign
Select the Campaign from the Add contacts to campaign list. -
Add all of the contacts in the imported data to a category
Select the Category from the Add contacts to category list. -
Mark all of the contacts in the imported data with a manual opt-in
Select the item from the Add contacts to manual opt-in list. -
Assign all of the companies in the imported data to an account manager
Select the user from the Set as account manager list. Mark whether to Add the user as account manager or Set as sole account manager. You can mark this Only for new companies, so account managers for existing companies won't be changed during import. -
Add all of the companies in the imported data to a campaign
Select the Campaign from the Add company to campaign list. -
Add all of the companies in the imported data to a category
Select the Category from the Add company to category list. -
Choose what to do when Upsales encounters more than one match
Upsales won't know which item to update. You'll be asked to Select Create new or Skip row (recommended option to avoid creating duplicates)
-
Get notified when an import is completed
You can be emailed a status report when your import is completed. Add extra email addresses or remove yours if you wish.
Once you’ve adjusted all of the import settings, select the Next step Review button:
More than one match in the import file?
If Upsales finds more than one company or contact that matches an instance in your CRM, you can either skip it from your import file or make a duplicate (which can cause problems with your data).
For example: You want to import a company that already has two versions in the system. The import creates a third version, rather than try to guess which version to match.
Tip! When you choose "skip row", no duplicate is created and no data from that row is imported.
