Opt-ins help ensure your contacts want to receive your marketing content, and won't report it as spam.
You can use and customise single and double opt-ins, for your forms and landing pages.
This article covers:
- Launching opt-in & terms
- opt-in template
- manual opt-in - Single v double opt-in
- Single opt-in
- Double opt-in - Opt-in thank you pages
- Confirmation emails for double opt-ins
- Terms
Launching opt-in & terms
Go to Settings → Marketing → Opt-in & terms:
Opt-in template
You'll then see two options. First, to use opt-in templates:
Manual opt-in
Second, to use a manual opt-in.
This is useful when you have imported contacts that have previously opted in outside of Upsales. Or perhaps you already have an established relationship, where sending marketing content may be seen as acceptable.
Single v double opt-in
These come with the option of single or double opt-in:
Single opt-in
When a contact fills out a form that has an active single opt-in, they get an email saying they've accepted the opt-in.
This means anyone can enter any email address. There's no way to confirm that the email address belongs to the same person who completed the form
Double opt-in
Useful for verifying the email address belongs to the person who completed the form. Here's how it works:
- A contact fills out one of your forms (with an active opt-in).
- The contact instantly receives an email to the submitted email address telling that someone filled out a form with this email.
- This is the double opt-in step: The user now has to click the link in the confirmation email for the double opt-in to be marked as complete.
- After clicking the link, a "Thanks for subscribing" page is opened
Opt-in thank you pages
- Language
The language shown to the visitor depends on their browser language settings. - Headline
Change to whatever fits your organisation best - Description
This is a few lines of text shown below the headline. By default it's set to "You are subscribed to {{Company.name}} email list".
Confirmation emails for double opt-ins
The confirmation email is sent after single or double opt-ins. Just like thank you pages, you can customise:
- Language
What language that is shown to the visitor depends on their browser language settings. - Headline
This is the main title for the page. By default it's set to "Thanks for subscribing". You can change this to whatever fits your organisation best. - Description
When using double opt-in, consider using the text to encourage the user to click the link and confirm their subscription.
Terms
This is only visible if using a Double Opt-in. What you're writing here is just the title of the link in the confirmation email. When clicked, the link will always direct the contact to the "Thank you" page.
Attaching terms for your opt-in
This is a way to attach a text to the opt-in toggles in your Upsales forms. The title for your opt-in becomes a link and opens your text in a new browser window.
You're now ready to add opt-ins to your forms
