There are three ways to publish your form depending on your needs, we recommend the embed option. Here's how to publish your form and the different publishing options:
This article will cover:
- Publishing option: Hosted by Upsales
- Publishing option: Embed on website
- Publishing option: Raw form code
- Finding the form publishing options
Hosted by Upsales
Upsales places the form on a web page where your visitors can fill it out. This option is always available even if you choose one of the other options as well.
How it works
When you've created your form you will automatically be directed to the publishing options page of your form. Your form is already published on an Upsales-hosted website and the link for it is displayed, share it with your contacts.
It's also possible to create trackable UTM links for your form, to find out how to create UTM links read this:
Generate UTM links for social media
Create custom UTM links.
Pros:
- No code required
- No hosting required
- Ready-made UTM tracked links
- Changes made in Upsales are instantly updated (well, you need to refresh the form page)
- Recaptcha spam protection available
Cons:
- Not placed on your own website
Embed on website
If you want to show the form on your website, this is the best way to go. With this option you need to copy the form code and paste onto your website, the form will then be inserted by iframe technology and shown on whatever page you add it to.
How it works
Iframes are basically a window to another website, that you can place on your own website. Adding the code to your website displays the Upsales form.
Pros:
- Place wherever you want on your website
- Changes made to the form in Upsales (colors, fields, etc)are instantly updated (well, you need to refresh the page)
- Custom CSS from Upsales automatically updated
- Custom fonts automatically updated
- Recaptcha spam protection available
- No code required
- No hosting required
Cons:
- Some restrictions on the level of customization
Raw form code
If you want to customize the design or the functionality of the form, use this code to start with. Note that some features are disabled with this option.
How it works
The code for your form is generated by Upsales into an HTML/javascript snippet which can be pasted onto your website. The code is a snapshot of how you configured your form in Upsales, so making changes in your form afterward will not affect your form, since Upsales no longer have control over it other than collecting what's filled out in the form submit. This means adding a new field or removing one will result in an error when your visitors fills it out.
How to apply changes to a form published with the raw form code options:
- Make the changes in Upsales (adding/removing fields, changing design, etc)
- Copy the code from the raw form code field in the form Publishing options
- Apply your custom code changes, if you've made any, to the form code again
- Replace old form code on your website
- Re-publish your page.
Pros:
- Fully customizable in terms of functionality and design
Cons:
- Changes made to the form in Upsales will no longer affect your form
- Recaptcha spam protection not supported
- After-submit-page not supported (need to direct to an external page)
