Once a Page exists, everything else happens in its editor: changing it, rolling back a change you did not want, taking it live and deciding who can see it.
Availability: Pages is being rolled out gradually and is not yet switched on for every account.
This article covers:
- The states
- Changing a Page
- Versions and reverting
- Going live, unpublishing and deleting
- Publishing to the team and choosing who sees it
The states
The State column on the Pages list, and the line under the page name in the editor, show one of:
- Draft — not live. Only you can see it. Where every page starts.
- Personal — live, but for you only. This is what Go live gives you, unless an administrator publishes the page to the team.
- Published — live for the team, or for the roles and users an administrator has chosen.
- Disabled — switched off and not live for anyone.
The Mine and Published tabs at the top of the list split the pages you created, in any state, from everything published to you in the account.
Changing a Page
Open the page from the Pages list. You can change your own pages; administrators can change any page they can see. The editor has two views, toggled top left:
- Chat — describe the change and the page builder makes it: "add the account owner", "sort by renewal date", "drop the last column". This is the normal way to work.
- Code — the page's actual source, if you would rather edit it directly. The preview updates alongside it.
The preview also has Point at something: click it, then click an element in the preview to tell the builder exactly which part you mean. Easier than describing "the third column heading" in words.
Changes are saved automatically as you work — there is no separate Save button. They stay in the draft, and colleagues keep seeing the live version until you publish again.
Versions and reverting
A new version — v1, v2 and so on, shown under the page name — is created each time you take the page live or publish changes. Edits you have not published do not create a version.
Two ways back to an earlier version:
- Revert in the chat. The messages that produced a version are marked with that version number, with a Revert button next to it.
- Version history (the clock icon, top right) lists the versions with their dates. Click Revert on the one you want, or Show in chat to jump to the change it came from.
Reverting loads the old version back into the editor and preview — it does not change what is live. Click Publish changes to put the reverted version live. Because the history is kept, experimenting is cheap.
Going live, unpublishing and deleting
-
Go live takes a draft live at its URL — shown under the page name, for example
/pages/renewals-at-risk. - Publish changes appears on a live page when you have made changes since it went live. Click it to push them live.
- Unpublish takes a live page back to a draft. The page and its history survive; it is simply no longer live. Use this rather than deleting when a view is out of season.
- Delete page (the bin icon) removes it permanently. Click it once, then again to confirm. Only the person who created the page, or an administrator, can delete it.
For a live standalone page, the arrow icon next to the bin opens the page on its own.
Publishing to the team and choosing who sees it
Only administrators can share a page with other users. On a live page an administrator sees two extra buttons:
- Publish to everyone turns a Personal page into a Published one. Make personal turns it back.
- Who can see it limits a published page to chosen roles and users. Leave it empty and everyone in the account can see the page. A role includes the roles beneath it.
Once published, a standalone page appears in the Links menu in the sidebar, a navigation-tab page appears as its own tab, and a page that sits on a record appears on that record for everyone it is published to.
Note: most pages show each viewer only the CRM data they are allowed to see. A page that reads its data with SQL is different: everyone it is published to sees the same rows, whatever their own access rights. Such pages are marked Ignores access rights under the page name — check the audience carefully before publishing one.
