Choose how often orders are created during a subscription period.
You set both values in the Scheduling section of the subscription, when you create it. The section reads as sentences, with a dropdown for each value: The length of the subscription period is (period length) and Orders are created (order interval).
Order interval
Use this to select how often the subscription should create orders. The options are:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Every four months
- Every six months
- Every twelve months
- Every two years
- Every third year
- Every fourth year
- Every fifth year
Period length
This field determines how many months the agreement is, and how much time until the subscription is renewed. Unless you set an end date, the subscription is renewed with the same period length when the period ends.
You can choose 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 or 60 months, or Until further notice. A subscription that runs until further notice has no renewal date. It keeps creating orders at the chosen order interval until you set an end date.
How the two fit together
The period length must be a whole number of order intervals. If you pick a combination that doesn't fit, Upsales adjusts the other value:
- If you change the order interval, the period length changes to the shortest period that fits the new interval. For example, a 6 month period with Every twelve months becomes a 12 month period.
- If you change the period length, the order interval changes to the same length as the period, or to Monthly if there is no interval of that length. For example, if orders are created Quarterly and you change the period length to 2 months, the order interval changes to Monthly.
Monthly fits every period length, and every order interval fits Until further notice.
Example 1
Period length of an agreement is 12 months.
Order interval: Quarterly (every 3 months)
With these settings, four orders will be created during period length.
Example 2
Period length is 6 months.
You can choose the order interval:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Every six months
