Stage 1: Designing the email content
When you're creating an email campaign, the editor in the sidebar is divided into four clickable sections:
You can also delete or duplicate an element by selecting it and then clicking the delete or duplicate icon:
Content
This shows all the content types you can add to your email design.

Select by clicking, then drag to where you want to position the content element:
- To edit the selected element, simply click on it and use the sidebar to make design changes. For text changes, click the current text and start typing and using the editor that appears above the text:
- To rearrange an element, click the drag icon:
Blocks
Use blocks to change the email's layout using rows and columns.

Select by clicking, then drag to where you want to position the block:
- In the sidebar you can edit column properties, such as colour, border, padding. You can also upload images from the Image Bank to use as the background:
- To add content elements, select a column and click Add content:
Body
This has two functions. You can select the appearance for the email elements that you add, and also set the preheader text, colours of hyperlinks, and screenreader title for accessibility.
- Select a text colour to define the colour of every text-related element you add:
- Add preheader text (the summary that recipients see in their inbox before opening the email)
- Define how URLs in the email should appear, from the colour to whether they're underlined

Audit
Find out if your email meets all the requirements to send, and get shown where and how to troubleshoot.
- Review any images without alt text, and click the arrow to fix each image:
- Review if any other elements, such as buttons, are missing any information and click the arrow to fix:
How to work with images
- Select Content and drag an image into the email content, and click to open up the image editing options:
- Click Upload image to add an image from the Image Bank
- To adjust the image size, click the width toggle off and then drag the slider from 100% to your chosen size:
- You can also make the image a call-to-action. Select the image and then click the dropdown next to Image Link to select from:
- Visiting a website
- Sending an email
- Calling a phone number - In the sidebar under Action there's also the option to add special links:
- Unsubscribe
- View subscriptions
- Open email in browser
How to work with videos
- Select Content and drag a video into the email content, and click to open up the video editing options:
- Add a YouTube or Vimeo link and Upsales generates a preview. You can then adjust the play icon's shape, colour, and size:
- You can also make the image a call-to-action. Select the image and then click the dropdown next to Image Link to select from:
- Visiting a website
- Sending an email
- Calling a phone number - In the sidebar under Action there's also the option to add special links:
- Unsubscribe
- View subscriptions
- Open email in browser
Sharing the email for review and saving as a template
Click More options to:
- Send a test of the email
- Share a link to the email
- Save the email as a template
- Switch to another template (loses all changes)
Stage 2: Selecting email recipients
Click Recipients to choose which contacts will receive the email. Options are:
- Use a segment
- Use a campaign
- Select contacts individually
- Select recipients later and go to Settings
Stage 3: Checking settings & sending
Check the email, and if there's anything missing Upsales will show a message when you scroll down
- Review the email campaign's name
- Choose the sender, add the subject line, check the recipient list
- Review the links included in the email, add any attachments, and then send or schedule the email
